established in 1973 from the inguinal tumor of an EBV-negative 5-year-old girl with Burkitt lymphoma at the preterminal stage; although the tumor tissue was experimentally exposed to EBV, neither EBV sequences nor EBV antigens were detectable in the established cell line. round to polymorphic cells growing in suspension singly cells and in clumps;

Subculture:
seed out at ca. 0.5-0.7 x 106 cells/ml; optimal split ratio 1:2 -1:5 every 2-3 days; culture flask should be kept horizontal

maximum density at ca. 1.5 x 106 cells/ml
