Hopax is a manufacturer and supplier of BIS-TRIS (CAS 6976-37-0), a zwitterionic biological buffer often used as a buffering agent in biological and biochemical research.


Uses of BIS-TRIS Buffer:

  • BIS-TRIS is a popular gel, sample and running buffer for various types of electrophoresis. For instance, it has been used with ACES Buffer as a running buffer for gel electrophoresis (BIS-TRIS/ACES).
  • Its use has also been reported in anion exchange chromatography, NMR spectroscopy and x-ray crystallography.
  • This Good's Buffer is considered an excellent substitute for the highly toxic buffer cacodylate.


Concerns:

  • It is not suitable for use with the Bicinchoninic Acid (BCA) Assay.
  • It interacts with human liver fatty acid binding protein (FAB) and affects protein dynamics.
