Biochemazone Artificial Intestinal Fluid BZ176, also called Simulated Intestinal Fluid (SIF) or synthetic intestinal fluid, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution that simulates the components and pH of intestinal fluid, at pH 6.8 ± 0.1. It is mainly composed of phosphate with the enzymes trypsin and pancreatin, and is sterilized by 0.2 µm filtration.
It is used in scientific research experiments on capsules, enteric-coated tablets and pills, especially enteric-coated capsules. The standard product contains enzymes; a formulation without enzyme, or with other enzymes, is made on request.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. Because it contains enzymes, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time. The composition, pH, viscosity and enzymes can be customized. This simulated fluid is for scientific research and in vitro use only; it is not for clinical diagnosis or treatment.
