Smooth muscle myosin heavy chain is mainly used to label vascular and visceral smooth muscle cells and myoepithelial cells, and is considered to be a relatively specific and reliable marker of smooth muscle. It is helpful for the diagnosis and classification of mesenchymal tumors, and is also used for the examination of breast myoepithelial cells.
1. Demonstrates smooth muscle differentiation for diagnosis and classification of deployed tumors.
2. Shows myoepithelial differentiation and is used to differentiate breast carcinoma in situ from invasive carcinoma.
