T-2 Toxin

T-2 toxin is a trichothecene mycotoxin, produced by Fusarium spp. molds, and contaminates predominantly in cereals, such as corns, wheat, barley, etc. Certain T-2 toxin-contaminated grains can make it a threat to human health and an economic burden. T-2 toxin primarily affects the function of blood, liver, kidneys, pancreas and lymphocytes. Acute toxic symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, skin irritation, rash, blister, and even dyspnea. Therefore, there are strict limits and regulations for T-2 toxin in food and grains all over the world.
