High fidelity in particle structure – Contains all 4 Rabies virus structural proteins (N, P, M, and G), but no structural proteins from other viruses. In contrast, lenti- and VSV- pseudoviruses contain only the G protein from the Rabies virus, and multiple structural proteins from other viruses, such as HIV-1 Gag and Pol.

Description:

A novel rapid hybrid alpha-pseudovirus for Rabies virus (Ha-RABV) and other Rhabdoviridae viruses are now available at Virongy. The structural proteins of the Rabies virus, including Nucleoprotein (N), Phosphoprotein (P), Matrix protein (M), and Glycoprotein (G), come together to form Ha-RABV particles. And they also package an alphaviral vector for reporter gene expression. The alpha-pseudoviruses are single-cycle viruses with self-replicating RNA for rapid quantification of neutralizing antibodies and entry-inhibiting drugs. These pseudoviruses are BSL-2 safe and ready to use for studying viral entry. Furthermore, we assist our customers in constructing Ha-RABV pseudoviruses at any scale.

Background:

RABV is a negative-stranded RNA virus of the Rhabdoviridae family. RABV virions are enveloped by a host cell-derived membrane [G] and take on a bullet shape of about 200 nm by 80 nm. The bullet shape is likely influenced by the constraints of budding and viral uptake. The relatively small RNA genome of the virus (~12 kb) encodes for five proteins: nucleoprotein (N), phosphoprotein (P), matrix protein (M), and glycoprotein (G). The basic functions of lyssavirus proteins are well-conserved.
