About Elite™ Total Antioxidant Activity Assay Kit

Living cells are continuously exposed to reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated during normal metabolism and in response to environmental stress. To maintain redox homeostasis, cells rely on a complex antioxidant defense system consisting of enzymatic antioxidants (such as superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase) and non-enzymatic antioxidants (including glutathione, vitamin C, vitamin E, uric acid, bilirubin, and numerous small molecules). Rather than measuring individual antioxidants separately, total antioxidant activity (TAA) provides an integrated assessment of the overall antioxidant capacity of a biological sample, making it one of the most informative biomarkers for oxidative stress research.
