About Elite™ Nitrite Quantification Assay Kit

Nitrite (NO₂⁻) is one of the primary stable oxidation products of nitric oxide (NO) metabolism and serves as a widely accepted indicator of nitric oxide production in biological systems. Nitric oxide is synthesized from L-arginine by nitric oxide synthases (NOS) and plays essential roles in vascular regulation, neurotransmission, immune defense, inflammation, and cell signaling. Because NO is highly reactive and has a very short biological half-life, direct measurement is often impractical. Instead, quantification of nitrite provides a reliable and convenient approach for monitoring nitric oxide production and evaluating NO-related physiological and pathological processes. Measurement of nitrite has become a standard technique in cardiovascular, immunology, neuroscience, inflammation, and cancer research.

Biological Significance of Nitrite

Nitric oxide is a multifunctional signaling molecule involved in numerous physiological processes, including regulation of vascular tone, platelet aggregation, neurotransmission, host defense, and immune cell activation.
