Hopax is a manufacturer and supplier of ACES (CAS 7365-82-4), a zwitterionic biological buffer often used as a buffering agent in biological and biochemical research.

Uses of Aces Buffer:

Researchers have used ACES to develop buffers for both agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, and it is especially used in isoelectric focusing (IEF) of proteins and analysis of bacterial autolysins in a discontinuous SDS-PAGE system.

Some studies have concluded that Aces responds well to chiral resolutions when working with chiral microemulsion electrokinetic chromatography in comparison to phosphate buffers. Moreover, Aces is widely used as a separator in the resolution of protein systems.

Other reported uses of ACES Buffer:

• As an enzyme assay buffer for the study of glucosidases
• As a buffer solution to wash and heat bacteria cells, such as Lactobacillus plantarum
• In buffered culture media for hairy roots of Catharanthus roseus
• As a buffer for x-ray crystallography of aldehyde dehydrogenase enzyme complexes
• In the preparation of buffered charcoal yeast extract agar for the isolation of bacteria, such as Legionella spp.
